Virginia Sports Hall of Fame Salutes College Football With New Exhibit, Tour & Activities Saturday, September 16th
On Saturday, September 16th, the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame & Museum will salute college football. In addition to free viewing of top Virginia and college games in the COX Digital Theater, the day will include children’s activities and a special college football tour.

Games will be offered from 11am-2pm and include an “Officials Quiz” and coloring contests, with Hall of Fame footballs offered as prizes.

“College Gridiron Greats” guided tours will be offered at 11am, 1pm and 3pm that Saturday. The tours will be offered again on October 14th and November 18th.

The salute on September 16th includes the opening of a new Sports Gallery temporary exhibit entitled “College Football Traditions: Virginia’s Gridiron Greats”, a follow-up exhibit to a professional football display earlier in the year. The exhibit will spotlights some of the Commonwealth’s classic college football legends including Hunter Carpenter (Virginia Tech), Nellie Catlett (VMI), Thomas C. Scott (UVa), and Lynn Chewning (Hampden-Sydney) among others. The display will run through the end of November.
