James G. Driver

James Driver, a native of Harrisonburg, won letters in four sports at the University of Virginia in football, basketball, baseball and track, and was concurrently captain of all four teams. He also attended the College of William & Mary, and lettered in the same four sports there.
 
Driver later coached basketball and football at William & Mary and served four years as their Athletic Director.  He then returned to his alma mater, UVA, to become the Athletic Director.
 
Driver was a coach and Athletic Director at the University of South Carolina, and was a member of the Olympic boxing committee for 12 years. He judged boxing in the 1936 Olympic games. 

One of his personal career highlights was playing against the legendary Jim Thorpe when Virginia lost a 22-5 decision in 1910.
